Swiss Made
Switzerland is very proud of its watchmaking art. It is no secret that some of the most famous watch brands in the world are made in Switzerland. Since smartwatches play an important role in everyday life for many people today, the question arises as to what a Swiss smartwatch might look like.
This project started as a spare time project in my fifth semester of my studies. Since Swiss design is a big part of the theoretical part of my visual communication studies, I was interested in how this traditional and iconic design would translate into modern times and the world of UI design.
In my design decisions, I tried to build on the familiarity of traditional wristwatches to make the new technology feel familiar.
The font being used should remind the user of iconic Swiss typography.
Wristwatches have always been an extension of our bodies. With smartwatches becoming more powerful, and technology effectively merging with our bodies, we’re at the forefront of a new era of computing.
